Henna is a very rewarding art form.
I enjoy seeing my work in pictures and tailoring my designs to fit each client more personally, and I want to share this joy with others.
Henna is quite easy to learn, one just needs some patience, paper, and a pencil.
I am aware that some of you may be a bit confused, but just trust me. This is how I began my own journey with henna, studying various designs and just following along to learn the basics.
I like to describe henna designs as being repetitive patterns.
One of the first designs I learned (and one of my go-to designs when practicing) involves the use of swirls, flowers, and paisleys repetitively. I consider these motifs to be the basics of henna design.
Floral motifs come in quite a few different varieties. However, I have found that nearly all of them begin with a swirl surrounded by petals. As you begin to master this, you will be able to add different types of petals to emphasize the look of your floral motif.
Paisleys are one of my favorite motifs. I always enjoy drawing the outlines because they give off such a soothing feeling when everything connects. Once you are able to draw paisleys with ease, you will be able to create even more complex designs by adding smaller floral or swirl motifs inside of the paisleys you draw.
As you become more advanced in these motifs, you will be able to expand & complicate them and connect them to create beautiful designs.
All it takes is some practice.
So, pick up that pencil and get designing.
